Auto Retracting and Locking Under Bed Restraint System
I've always liked the idea of having restraints on the bed, but I often find them quite annoying when it comes to putting them on the bed, taking them off, and keeping them hidden if needed. I recently made an automatic under the bed restraint system that turned out really nice, fixed alot of the above issues, and also allowed for more play options.
This works in a very similar fashion to a seatbelt, pull out all the slack and then a ratchet engages so you can't get any slack until the belt is retracted all the way. This works that exact same way. I made it so this can easily mount to the bottom of your bed frame so that it is out of sight and if bound on top of the bed, impossible to reach and disengage. The spool holds 5 feet of paracord, plenty for bedroom bondage.
Since these automatically pull in the slack it makes it great for producing tight bondage. These also work great for self bondage since this will automatically tighten once all the slack is pulled out. There is a switch on the outside of the housing that can be used to let out slack if needed. I found this to be a good feature at the end of the session to quickly and easily loosen the person that is bound.
The mount that I made easily slides into my bed frame and once the mattress is on top of it it can't go anywhere. I also made on where you could screw it to a flat surface. There is also a hole in the housing so that the device could be tied to an eye bolt or anchored to anything.
The design uses a cheap recoil spring to make it work. I like the idea of making everything 3d printable, but sometimes it is nice to incorporate actual metal products to make somethings so much better. This whole project was alot more complicated that I originally thought it was going to be. The design uses a small planetary gearbox to be able to let the spool spin 5 times before ratcheting. After 5 spins the ring gear hits a lever on the pawl to engage the ratchet and pawl system, and then the recoil spring winds everything back up.
This is a huge improvement over what we had in the past. I think there are a lot of other scenarios that could benefit from this type of system. I think this might be very advantageous to use in self bondage as long as you have a reliable release mechanism.
