0.5 mg Xanax 2–3 hours ago. Is having a few beers at a barbecue tonight unsafe?
I took 0.5 mg of Xanax (alprazolam) about 2–3 hours ago due to an emotionally difficult situation with my brother. I am not a regular Xanax user and only took it in very difficult situations to help manage anxiety and get through the day.
Tonight I have plans with friends for a barbecue, and I would like to have a few beers socially. There is also a chance the evening may continue at a club later. I am aware that alcohol and benzodiazepines can interact, so I’m looking for informed opinions or experiences regarding how risky it would be to drink a small amount of alcohol (for example a few beers) several hours after taking 0.5 mg Xanax.
Given the low dose and the time elapsed, would moderate drinking still be considered unsafe? I’d appreciate serious advice, especially from anyone knowledgeable or with personal experience.
