Washington, D.C. was a stifling place, especially for a young woman growing up in the public eye. Ever since your father had launched his bid for president your life had become a shell of what it once was. Friends, family, partners, had all fallen to the wayside to preserve the image of a perfect conservative daughter, one that exemplifies the values and customs of your dad’s political project.

Months into his first term, you’ve grown to hate the daily life of the White House, constantly survailed, held to high standards, and no one speaks to you like a normal human being. Meanwhile, the streets are full of charismatic but power hungry people, who would do anything for a taste of the oval office. The TV is a constant barrage of political messaging, often implicating you in whatever cultural outrage is happening now.

Just before the August recess hits congress, a handwritten note is delivered to you by an aid. It’s sealed with the name of a progressive freshman senator, an avid opponent of your father, and a known shit stirrer by the media. The note is heartfelt, and brief, but ends with an invitation.

If you need some fun in the capitol, you know who to call.

Hello my lovely ladies. As you can tell i’m very interested in playing a scene throughly steeped in American politics. You don’t need to be a political scientist to play, but know that this will remain integral throughout the scene.

I’m looking for a sort of clash of cultures in this scene, a crossing of the isle for the sake of love. The password is recess. I can see this being a coming out scene of sorts, where your character has a gay awakening in her exposure to DC night life.

Regardless, this relationship is going to be a whirlwind tabloid wildfire, breaking all convention in American culture and propelling both of our names to greater recognition.

Im also interested in developing a longterm plan related to political ambition. Maybe after the whirlwind first years we marry, and I make a bid for President myself. Maybe I even challenge your father’s second term with you as my first lady.

Victoria had been living in the tall grass since she was a little girl, constantly accruing new scratches and bruises from being outside, trying her hardest to glimpse wild Pokémon nearby her house. Long before she had a pokédex, she put polaroid photos next to handwritten passages for each creature, writing down every fact and detail she could discover about them. Since she was a child her mom had been the local psychic type gym leader, but right before her sixteenth birthday, she was promoted to the Elite Four of a neighboring region. She spent the next lonesome years continuing her studies, putting her love of Pokémon on the back burner while she studied the practical sciences. But deep in her heart she knew she wanted to be the very best.

It wasn’t clear how it happened but this twenty-something had ended up at a function of mid to late thirty-somethings, like a gem of potential amidst a crowd of has beens. They paraded you around like elders like to do with a promising new face, asking every conceivable question, constantly affirming how beautiful and smart and mature you are. I was no better, but my infatuation left me biting my lip while I watched your body from across the room.

I’m a single mother, divorced a few years back after a decade of marriage, and after a spiral of searching for purpose I’ve landed back on my feet. A great house, a great job, a wide network of support just in case. But still, the weekends without my kid, my bed feels cold and empty.
