(F4A) The Crimson Script

(F4A) The Crimson Script

The wind howled through the broken spires of a dead kingdom.

Ash fell like snow.

They had followed the rumors across cursed roads and corpse-littered battlefields, whispers of a relic older than empires, a script not written in ink, but in blood. It was said to bind gods, unmake kings, or damn entire bloodlines with a single phrase.

They called it the Covenant.

And now, they had found it.

Or rather, her.

At the heart of the ruins, where a cathedral once stood, a lone figure waited upon a cracked altar. Black velvet and shadow clung to her form, a tattered cloak pooling like spilled night behind her. Thorns of dark magic curled faintly in the air, as if even reality recoiled from her presence.

In her hand, held almost gently, was a living parchment.

It pulsed.

Veins of crimson light crawled across its surface, forming and unforming words in a language the soul itself recoiled from remembering. Each beat of the traveler’s heart seemed to echo its rhythm.

She spoke without looking at them.

“They walked far,” she said, her voice low and ancient, like something dragged from a grave and taught to speak again. “Most turn back when the dead start whispering their names.”

A pause.

Then she turned.

Her eyes were wrong, not glowing, not monstrous, just too knowing, as if they had watched centuries burn.

“And yet they stand.”

The Covenant tightened in her grip. Somewhere in the ruins, something unseen shifted, listening.

“They were told it grants power,” she continued softly. “They are never told the truth.”

A faint smile touched her lips, cruel, tired, and knowing.

“It does not give power.”

“It remembers debts.”

The wind died.

Silence swallowed the world.

“Tell me, wanderer,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper, yet impossible to ignore, “what are they willing to have written in their blood?”

The Covenant flickered.

For a moment, it seemed to reach for them.

As if it were already trying to write their name.

(F4A) The monster in the woods - long term plot

A storm batters the outskirts of a forgotten village. Rain lashes against crooked wooden houses, and the forest beyond breathes with something alive. People have been disappearing. Livestock found hollowed. Doors scratched from the outside, and inside.

The wind howls like something screaming through broken teeth.

You push through the tree line, boots sinking into wet soil. The lantern in your hand flickers—then steadies. Barely.

That’s when you hear it.

A wet sound.

Not quite chewing. Not quite breathing.

Ahead, something moves between the trees—tall, impossibly thin. Its limbs bend wrong. Its head… no, not a head. A hood? A hollow? Something open where a face should be.

It doesn’t see you yet.

Its long, clawed fingers curl inward as it tugs at something in its grasp, black strands stretching between its hands like sinew or thread. A faint clicking noise echoes from deep inside its hollow “mouth,” like it’s tasting the air.

Then—

It stops.

Slowly… slowly… its head tilts.

You feel it.

It knows you’re there.

A thin, glistening strand stretches as it turns, and from within that void, something flickers—movement, hunger.

The creature twitches.

Once.

Twice.

Then it speaks—not with words, but with a sound like something being pulled apart.
