ok this sounds insane but hear me out

i (19f) was at my bfs (22m) house for the first time and he told me to “make myself at home” while he ran to the store. i was bored and saw this framed photo of an old guy on the shelf with like candles around it so i assumed it was like a memorial thing??

so i sat down and kinda whispered “rest in peace” just being respectful. then i thought it would be nice to add something so i grabbed a random flower from outside and put it next to the picture

then his grandma walks in, sees me, and just GASPS like full dramatic

turns out the guy in the photo is NOT dead. its his grandpa. he was literally upstairs napping

and apparently putting flowers by his picture is like what they do at actual funerals so she thought i was like…declaring him dead???

she starts yelling for everyone, his grandpa comes down confused, and im just standing there holding the flower like an idiot

my bf gets back mid chaos and just goes “what did you do”

now his family keeps joking about me “trying to kill grandpa spiritually” but also his grandma wont look at me anymore

aitah i was just trying to be respectful 😭
