Just saw a post about a Black trans woman named Davonta Curtis (RIP) who was just murdered by her boyfriend via a hammer to the skull and I really don’t understand how rhetoric that mimics the “gotchyuh moment” in right-wing, trans-hating spaces is advertising that doesn’t perpetuate our own demises? Like, trans women DIE from this in intimate partner violence. ESPECIALLY Black trans women. I don’t understand how people are still condoning this type of demeaning rhetoric especially when it’s coming from the most medically transitioned, privileged white creators. Are the so-called “leftists” in this space actually just larpers?
I see this everywhere on Reddit and I find it really disturbing. It makes the platform worse for other trans women and femmes in my opinion. Not all visibility is good visibility, especially for trans femmes on a right wing platform like Reddit. Hate it here.
Imma tell you now: I support SWer rights DOWN—but SWer wrongs of this nature is 100% wrong in my book. You could never make an argument for why this is good or helpful or even “effective.”
