Hi everyone, this is my very first post here. I'm a little anxious. It may be a bit different to some of the entries so I'd love if you'd give it a chance. Hopefully it will provide some welcome representation as well! This has been a great exercise getting me back into writing and I've worked very hard on this piece. Artemis stared intently at the small screen on his wrist. Two hours. That should be just enough time. He pressed several buttons activating a timer with a resolved grimace on his dark features. Then he glanced up to see the silhouette of a man stood in front of the large bay window across the room from him.

Brilliant hues of purples, blues, pinks, and greens danced among star clusters and galaxies in the heart of the super nova on display through the window. Worst of all, they were not allocated a spot on the escape pods in case of emergency. But even under these most undesirable conditions, no one complained, for they were bound for a new life and a hopeful beginning. Artemis and Aries had met on their very first day on board and had been inseparable ever since. When they weren't cleaning space toilets or waiting on snobby millionaires, they passed the long days exploring one another in mind, body and spirit. The last of the crafts' lights dimmed suddenly and the low rumbles of mechanics ceased. All at once a deep vacuum of silence consumed them and the cold of deep space began to flow through the room as their bodies drifted slowly upwards, still locked in embrace.

Out the bay window, against the backdrop of the universe, the final escape pod jettisoned away from the hatch, leaving Artemis and Aries to their celestial tomb. And that night, their first night as stars, they found each other once again in the great beyond.
